AXA Insurance Partners with the Community for a Healthier Singapore

December 05, 2017 |

Building on the success of the AXA Burpees For Good Challenge, which resulted in a more than 150,000 burpees done in less than one month, AXA Insurance announced that it has embarked on the AXA Health Challenge – a series of weekly challenges aimed at catalysing lifestyle changes for the Singapore public. This challenge will culminate in the AXA Get Healthy Day with Mobike, where Mobike’s brand new generation of bicycles will be unveiled for the first time ever in an attempt to set a national record for the largest parade of bike-sharing bicycles and participants on 9 December 2017.

Leading a healthy lifestyle is often a conscious choice that one has to undertake, but this is often beset by the stress and demands of city living. Very often, we find it difficult to stick to our diet and workout plans and this is where AXA hopes to help. With the AXA weekly Challenge, AXA Insurance aims to partner the public on their health journeys, encouraging those who have fallen behind on their healthy-living goals with fun, weekly challenges, complete with attractive prizes to be won.

AXA Health Challenge

AXA Singapore’s health journey was initiated with the AXA Burpees Challenge whereby for every 10 burpees completed, AXA Insurance donated one dollar to SportCares Foundation. The Burpees Challenge saw the participation of more than 6,000 members of the public,  adding up to a total of 156,388 burpees completed in Singapore. This was a clear demonstration of how the community got involved in the challenge, getting physically active for a good cause. The groundswell of support for the Burpees Challenge also saw AXA Insurance donate $20,000 to SportCares Foundation. The money will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Singapore’s Vision 2030 Fund which will be ring-fenced for SportCares’ Let’s Get Moving Programme, a physical literacy initiative for children (ages 3 – 6 years old) to become more active through Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS).

Building on the strong momentum built by the AXA Burpees For Good Challenge, the AXA Health Challenge continued with Dance Hero (30 Oct – 5 Nov) where participants showcased their best dance moves and the  Health Nut (6 Nov – 12 Nov), which encouraged participants to opt for healthier meal options.

The importance of mental wellness was also put under the spotlight during the Chillaxer (13 Nov - 19 Nov) which encouraged participants to take a breather and go for a relaxing stroll in the park while the Fit Freestyler (20 Nov – 26 Nov) turned up the heat with participants doing workouts to increase endurance, balance and flexibility.
At the end of a busy November, the ZZZen Master (27 Nov – 3 Dec) encouraged participants to start practicing healthy bedtime rituals in preparation for the final challenge, Mobiker (4 Dec – 17 Dec), which aims to get participants to explore Singapore in a healthy way by hopping onto a Mobike.

“The importance of a healthy lifestyle is the best assurance against rising medical costs and the stresses of modern living. We are very proud of what we have achieved so far with our AXA Health Challenge, encouraging and incentivising the public to adopt healthier lifestyle habits while doing good.” Said Mr Jean Drouffe, CEO of AXA Insurance. “As a responsible member of the Singapore community, AXA is committed to playing the role of a partner to our customers and the public at large, helping empower them so they are able to live better lives.”

Building on the groundswell of crowdsourced activities generated throughout this period, the AXA Health Challenge will culminate in the AXA Get Healthy Day with Mobike, where AXA Insurance, Mobike and the community will come together in an attempt to set a national record by holding the largest parade of bike-sharing bicycles together in Singapore. The parade will witness the official unveiling of Mobike’s new generation of bicycles for the first time in an attempt to set a new national record. AXA Insurance will also present the cheque of $20,000 from the AXA Burpees For Good Challenge to SportCares Foundation at the event to mark the conclusion of the Health Challenge.

Sharon Meng, Mobike Singapore Country Manager, said: “Mobike is excited to take part in the Challenge and encourage Singaporeans to live a more active and healthy lifestyle through cycling. Switching to biking instead of the car a few times a week can help you burn calories, strengthen some muscles, and enjoy our city in the open air. Mobike provides its users with data on the calories burned and the distance they’ve travelled; so Mobikers can continue to challenge themselves to ride further and live better.”
