AXA Life Insurance Singapore today launched 360° Cancer Care, the first-ever holistic cancer insurance plan in the market, which will take care of financial, practical and emotional concerns that may arise before, during and after cancer treatment.
Chief Marketing Officer of AXA Life Insurance Singapore, Ms Kwek Perroy Li Choo said, “Cancer is the number 1 cause of death in Singapore. We were struck by the statistics that on average more than 1 person in Singapore is diagnosed with cancer every hour and that 14 people die every day in Singapore of cancer. At AXA, we asked ourselves how we can make our insurance protection plans more useful and how we can help alleviate the cancer burden. Our research tells us that most insurance plans in Singapore cover the treatment stage when a patient is diagnosed with cancer, but there are clear needs out there for cancer insurance plans which help with prevention, and plans which support a cancer survivor through his recovery stages.”
360° Cancer Care involves Holistic Care Services, a dedicated service that will give customers access to a panel of experts who will provide support and assistance at three different stages – Preventive Care Stage, Treatment Stage, and the Rehabilitation Stage. In the event of a cancer diagnosis, a care coordinator will be assigned to review the customers’ needs, including non-medical holistic care needs, from the very beginning.
Preventive Care Stage
This stage involves discounted health check-up vouchers for cancer screening packages and access to wellness seminars.
Upon diagnosis of cancer, or during the Treatment Stage, customers can also get access to a dedicated telephone concierge service to get assistance with finding the right doctors and medical treatments in Singapore, as well as priority hospital admissions and specialist consultation. Customers can also get assistance in organising home care and finding aftercare experts during the Rehabilitation Stage.
In addition, 360° Cancer Care allows for immediate financial support during the three stages of cancer; Medical assistance benefit, which provides a lumpsum payout upon diagnosis of cancer; a lumpsum payout to support basic expenses through the Recovery Benefit in the event that the cancer advances and home rest is recommended; and a Cancer Relapse Benefit which provides an additional payout on relapse of cancer.
A unique aspect under 360° Cancer Care includes an Aftercare Benefit, which allows reimbursement of expenses incurred for the following items:
- Psychological counselling session
- Second medical opinion
- Home care nursing
- Anti-nausea drugs
- Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)
- Hair loss treatment
- Dietician services
- Reconstructive surgery
