Closing the Gaps in Critical Illness Coverage

Protecting yourself from life's uncertainties will empower you to live a better life beyond any setbacks. In February and March 2018, we conducted the Better Beyond Survey to understand what Singaporeans know and think of critical illness protection, and their ownership of such insurance.

Here's what we found:

53% of those surveyed can foresee the significant financial impact of a critical illness but 61% are unsure of the financial costs involved

87% believe they are likely to contract a critical illness before turning 65 but only 52% have critical illness insurance

20 to 34 year olds who are uninsured do not think critical illness protection is a priority

Only 25% of those insured are confident they are adequately protected against critical illnesses

Only 6% of those surveyed have the minimum protection of 3.9 times of annual income
recommended by the Life Insurance Association Singapore (LIA)
